Tiara Murphy first joined Room to Grow in 2014 as a program participant and graduated with her son Alijah in 2018. She is a proven leader and has always advocated for fellow families and underserved communities. Tiara is active in Boston and has held numerous leadership roles in community-based organizations like Smart from the Start and the Charlestown Resident Alliance, and participated on city-wide boards such as the Health Advisory Equity Committee for the Boston Health Commission. She has represented community groups and residents at City Council hearings and is a widely sought-after speaker for local governmental and community groups. Currently, Tiara is the Resident Services Coordinator for the Boston Housing Authority, where she supports tenants in their various needs. She is also the president of Room to Grow Boston's parent advisory council, Care-MECA.
