Welcoming Room to Grow’s New CEO Akilah King

Dear Friends of Room to Grow,

I am delighted to share the wonderful news that Room to Grow has selected Akilah King as its new CEO. Akilah previously served as Executive Director of our New York region.

Akilah has demonstrated inspiring and effective leadership throughout her tenure at Room to Grow. Yet it has been over these past six months as Interim CEO, among some of the most challenging times imaginable, that Akilah truly distinguished herself.

With exceptional organizational stewardship and a deep commitment to our mission and culture, Akilah has shown herself to be a leader of great integrity, dedication, and capacity. She believes deeply in our work, and in ensuring all voices are heard, across regions and constituencies. With personal roots in Boston and extensive professional experience in New York City, Akilah brings a fresh perspective and insight into both Room to Grow regions and the needs of the communities we support.

This is an exciting chapter in Room to Grow's history and I am personally thrilled to have Akilah at the helm. In the very near future, we will launch a search for our next leader in New York. In the meantime, Akilah and I are grateful to the entire Room to Grow team for their remarkable commitment to fulfilling our mission, especially during this period of transition.
