Development Manager, Special Events & Individuals
The Development Manager, Special Events & Individual Giving is responsible for Room to Grow’s individual fundraising success through major gifts, special events, and annual fund campaigns; all areas of donor cultivation and stewardship including communications, database management, special event management, and revenue reporting. As a key member of the development team, this position reports to the Executive Director as and may be asked to lead on special projects as needed.


Responsibilities:

Relationship Management & Fundraising (65%)

1. Individual Donors & Major Gifts
◦ Manage and develop a portfolio of major and mid level donors, both independently and in partnership with Executive Director 
◦ Expand major gifts program and pipeline of donors
◦ Identify, research, and recommend prospects for board development
◦ Drive engagement and stewardship activities including conducting site visits, cultivation meetings, and events
◦ Design and execute highly effective virtual and hard-copy fundraising appeals (annual fund)
◦ Coordinate prospect and donor engagement with Volunteer Coordinator

2. Special Events
◦ Manage all aspects of fundraising and cultivation events throughout the year, including annual Spring Gala, fall Power Breakfast, and several smaller-scale cultivation and fundraising events
◦ Event responsibilities include: revenue generation, budget management, and project work-plans; maximizing collaboration with event committees and chairs; logistics (venue, catering, AV, etc.); design, printing, and mailing of invitations and other printed materials; marketing and ticket sales; lead staff and volunteers on-site; coordinating timely and effective post-event follow up

3. Lead the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) including member recruitment, meetings, and ensuring successful events (fundraising and volunteer);


Strategy, Reporting & Data Management (20%)

• Collaborate with the development team to create and implement the organization’s annual fundraising goals, external relations strategy, and calendar of activities to expand and diversify funding
• Partner with Executive Director to engage major donors and identify prospects for board development 
• Accurate management of contact lists and gift entry in Salesforce database for individual and special event revenue; ensure timely gift acknowledgement
• Leverage and maintain systems and tools used to track donor, prospect and client (program) information for executive management and board reports (internal and external tools)
• Reconcile revenue and financial records weekly and monthly
• Oversee the ongoing maintenance and increase the functionality of the Salesforce donor database; manage contracted hours with database consultant for improvements
• Coordinate joint fundraising opportunities with Boston team


Communications & Marketing (15%)

•  Create and execute quarterly newsletter, donor communications, and other marketing collateral in collaboration with the Director of Communications and Community Relations
•  Provide support for the development and implementation of organization-wide marketing materials designed to increase public awareness and raise visibility
• Stay abreast of local and national current research and trends regarding early childhood interventions and anti-poverty work
• Maintain accurate mailing lists and design segmented strategy for all outreach


Qualifications:
• BA/BS and 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, including special events, major gifts and/or individual giving
•  
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• 
Superior attention to detail and understanding of the effective use of data to drive action
• 
Entrepreneurial spirit and appreciation for working cross-functionally within a small team
• 
Enthusiasm and personal commitment to Room to Grow’s mission
• 
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and Google Drive

Room to Grow Development and Inventory Internships
Room to Grow seeks interns interested in nonprofit management, programmatic operations, and early childhood development. Interns will support the staff of Room to Grow in a variety of capacities.

Responsibilities and activities would include (but not be limited to):
• Providing Inventory Support
• Providing Fundraising/Development Support
• Providing Database Management Support
• Providing General Programmatic Support

Time Commitment:

• Regular schedule of 2-3 days a week
• Approximately 16 – 24 hours a week

We will provide interns with a meaningful experience and hands-on training. We are looking for hard workers with a positive attitude who are excited about helping families in need. Our goal is to provide a varied and broad-based experience across all functions of the organization.

Young Professional's Leadership Council
Room to Grow seeks energized volunteers interested in being public ambassadors for the organization and who will actively participate in fundraising activities.

Room to Grow will launch its first young professional's leadership council this spring. Committee members will organize fundraising activities and events, introduce the organization to new prospective donors and identify new fundraising opportunities. All members are expected to make a financial contribution to the organization. The committee will meet four times a year, with regular contact and interaction with the Executive Director and Development Director at Room to Grow.
