Development Manager, Special Events & Individuals
The Development Manager, Special Events & Individual Giving is responsible for Room to Grow’s individual fundraising success through major gifts, special events, and annual fund campaigns; all areas of donor cultivation and stewardship including communications, database management, special event management, and revenue reporting. As a key member of the development team, this position reports to the Executive Director as and may be asked to lead on special projects as needed.


Responsibilities:

Relationship Management & Fundraising (65%)

1. Individual Donors & Major Gifts
◦ Manage and develop a portfolio of major and mid level donors, both independently and in partnership with Executive Director 
◦ Expand major gifts program and pipeline of donors
◦ Identify, research, and recommend prospects for board development
◦ Drive engagement and stewardship activities including conducting site visits, cultivation meetings, and events
◦ Design and execute highly effective virtual and hard-copy fundraising appeals (annual fund)
◦ Coordinate prospect and donor engagement with Volunteer Coordinator

2. Special Events
◦ Manage all aspects of fundraising and cultivation events throughout the year, including annual Spring Gala, fall Power Breakfast, and several smaller-scale cultivation and fundraising events
◦ Event responsibilities include: revenue generation, budget management, and project work-plans; maximizing collaboration with event committees and chairs; logistics (venue, catering, AV, etc.); design, printing, and mailing of invitations and other printed materials; marketing and ticket sales; lead staff and volunteers on-site; coordinating timely and effective post-event follow up

3. Lead the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) including member recruitment, meetings, and ensuring successful events (fundraising and volunteer);


Strategy, Reporting & Data Management (20%)
1. Collaborate with the development team to create and implement the organization’s annual fundraising goals, external relations strategy, and calendar of activities to expand and diversify funding
2. Partner with Executive Director to engage major donors and identify prospects for board development 
3. Accurate management of contact lists and gift entry in Salesforce database for individual and special event revenue; ensure timely gift acknowledgement
4. Leverage and maintain systems and tools used to track donor, prospect and client (program) information for executive management and board reports (internal and external tools)
5. Reconcile revenue and financial records weekly and monthly
6. Oversee the ongoing maintenance and increase the functionality of the Salesforce donor database; manage contracted hours with database consultant for improvements
7. Coordinate joint fundraising opportunities with Boston team


Communications & Marketing (15%)
1. Create and execute quarterly newsletter, donor communications, and other marketing collateral in collaboration with the Director of Communications and Community Relations
2. Provide support for the development and implementation of organization-wide marketing materials designed to increase public awareness and raise visibility
3. Stay abreast of local and national current research and trends regarding early childhood interventions and anti-poverty work
4. Maintain accurate mailing lists and design segmented strategy for all outreach


Qualifications:
• BA/BS and 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, including special events, major gifts and/or individual giving

Major Gifts Officer
Reporting to and collaborating with the Executive Director in Boston, the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for all aspects of donor cultivation and stewardship including communications, moves management, special events fundraising and will work with the Executive Director, board and key stakeholders to engage networks and leverage assets to meet Room to Grow’s ambitious goals, approximately $5M over 3 years. As a key member of the development team, this position reports to the Executive Director, works closely with the Development Operations Manager, and will be externally focused, taking a hands-on approach to cultivating the relationships required for Room to Grow’s continued growth. Room to Grow is currently 100% privately funded, predominantly through local resources.


Responsibilities:
Relationship Management & Fundraising (70%)
1. Plan and implement fundraising activities targeting major donors: individuals, private foundations and corporate donors.

2. Secure and diversify funding for the Boston site, research and develop strategy for securing government funding sources, and collaborate with the NY team on national funding opportunities.

3. Responsible for all aspects of special events fundraising (individuals, corporations and foundations), including Room to Grow’s spring Celebrating Mothers event and Fall Gala as well as several smaller-scale fundraisers throughout the year. Includes prospecting, recruiting and managing committees, speakers and other VIPs in collaboration with Executive Director.

4. Manage strategic portfolio of ($500+) donors capable of significantly growing their giving.

5. Partner with Executive Director to develop and manage strategy for Executive Director and Board donor portfolio management. Engage the Board, committees, development staff and Executive Director to maximize fundraising opportunities and leverage existing networks.

6. Work with the Executive Director and Board members to develop and cultivate relationships with new and renewing donors. Responsible for prospecting and researching efforts of these donors.

7. Lead donor engagement and stewardship activities, including conducting tours, cultivation visits, meetings, events, and special projects as appropriate.

Strategy, Reporting & Data Management (15%)
1. Collaborate with Executive Director & Development Operations Manager to develop and successfully execute the organization’s annual fundraising goals, strategies and calendar of activities to expand and diversify funding revenue and networks.

2. Plan and execute major giving strategy.

Communications & Marketing (15%)
1. Collaborate with Community Relations Manager to develop annual communications plan to effectively raise visibility and support across all donor and stakeholder groups (financial, in-kind, volunteers, etc.)

2. Advise and collaborate on the development of newsletters, donor communications, press kits and other marketing collateral to ensure the intended impact with the respective donor audience.

Qualifications:
BA/BS required. Five or more years demonstrated experience in fundraising, with proven success in securing 5- and 6-figure gifts and raising funds through large-scale events; ability to creatively and strategically engage Board members and key stakeholders to build and leverage relationships that lead to meeting Room to Grow’s fundraising goals; exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated success in relationship management, donor cultivation and retention; excellent written and verbal communication skills; entrepreneurial spirit and appreciation for working both independently and cross-functionally within a small team; ability to work occasional nights and weekends; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, and Google Drive.

Inventory & Volunteer Coordinator
The Inventory and Volunteer Coordinator ensures the functional management and “company ready” quality presentation of the client space and oversees the volunteer program. This full time position reports to the Community Relations Manager.

Responsibilities:
1. Keep entire space, including public areas and storage areas, fully organized and neat, with items attractively displayed. 
2. Ensure that all donated items are sorted, inventoried and prepared for display on a regular basis in conjunction with volunteers. Check for quality control and manage process of passing on donations that do not meet Room to Grow’s needs. 
3. Prepare projects for and facilitate group volunteer sessions. 
4. Deliver Room to Grow overview to each new group conveying the importance of Room to Grow’s program and its impact on clients. 
5. Enter in-kind donation and outbound distribution data into tracking system, and volunteer hours into Salesforce. Prepare monthly and quarterly inventory reports. Manage annual quarterly and annual inventory audit process.
6. Facilitate pick-ups and drop-offs of in-kind donations, both in front of Room to Grow and elsewhere in the city. 

7. Train and oversee individual volunteers.
8. Work with Boston Cares and corporate groups on volunteer events and collaborate with development team on corporate partnerships
9. Design and prepare mission-related décor for Room to Grow fundraising events. 

10. Prepare quarterly volunteer update and implement ways to show appreciation of volunteers.

Hours:
Tuesday 11:30 – 7:30, Wednesday – Saturday 9-5

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ work experience required, retail experience a plus; excellent written, verbal and organizational skills; extremely neat and organized with strong attention to detail and visual sense; exceptional interpersonal skills; familiarity with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and tracking database. Valid driver’s license required.

Room to Grow Development and Inventory Internships
Room to Grow seeks interns interested in nonprofit management, programmatic operations, and early childhood development. Interns will support the staff of Room to Grow in a variety of capacities.

Responsibilities and activities would include (but not be limited to):
• Providing Inventory Support
• Providing Fundraising/Development Support
• Providing Database Management Support
• Providing General Programmatic Support

Time Commitment:

• Regular schedule of 2-3 days a week
• Approximately 16 – 24 hours a week

We will provide interns with a meaningful experience and hands-on training. We are looking for hard workers with a positive attitude who are excited about helping families in need. Our goal is to provide a varied and broad-based experience across all functions of the organization.

Young Professional's Leadership Council
Room to Grow seeks energized volunteers interested in being public ambassadors for the organization and who will actively participate in fundraising activities.

Room to Grow will launch its first young professional's leadership council this spring. Committee members will organize fundraising activities and events, introduce the organization to new prospective donors and identify new fundraising opportunities. All members are expected to make a financial contribution to the organization. The committee will meet four times a year, with regular contact and interaction with the Executive Director and Development Director at Room to Grow.
